Realtek 8111C

Realtek 8111C

Mark: Very bad

The 8111_C_ is a headache for an admin regardless of the OS. The brain-dead realtek developers have assigned it the same dev/vend ids but it's incompatible with plain 8111 even in Vista and XP! On Vista-based WinPE 2.0 the device is not recognised and in WinXP it only works properly with the latest drivers while previous versions report that everything is ok but the cable isn't plugged. And in the end every 10th of these NICs (LOMs) is defective and works only after approximately 5-15 minutes of "heating" (I mean doesn't work after cold boot) while in one case I observed this time period degradation in the month time and the NIC eventually became totally defunct. So I would suggest to avoid 8111C at all costs (and realtek products altogether)... (as well as ulta-cheap Neo-F series from MSI too).
