What is the lifetime of eComStation?

2004-12-18 13:36:23 -- Eugene Gorbunoff [eComStation@yahoogroups.com, Bob St.John]

December is the month of sum up and making plans for the next year.

After the discussion of SWC <> eComStation relations (no relations), new question appeared: "When the agreement between SSI and IBM expires? What will happen to eComStation after 2006?"

Bob St.John (Serenity Systems International) answers in eComStation@yahoogroups.com maillist:

First, we are talking about the OEM agreement. SSI had that before
eComStation and OS/2 is not the only product on it. And OEMs can
continue working with products after IBM withdraws them. Some OEMs
are still using Warp3, for example. One product we have is PCOM 4.3
.. which has been gone from the IBM active lists for awhile.

What I'm saying is .. as long as eComStation is a good business and
covers the expense, SSI will be able to continue to deliver it and OS/2
as part of the product. The current plan is to continue investing in
and improving eComStation. That is what is happening.

SVISTA(tm) Virtual Machine -- Alternative to VMWare(r) and Virtual PC(r) Released

2004-11-11 02:25:31 -- Eugene Gorbunoff [http://media.prnewswire.com/en/jsp/preview.jsp?resourceid=2803605]

LEWISVILLE, Texas, Oct. 29 (PRNewswire) -- Serenity Systems International (SSI) has announced the release of their Serenity Virtual Station(tm), SVISTA(tm), family of virtual machine products, http://www.serenity-systems.com. This is the latest entry into the hot field of virtual machine software which allows users to run multiple operating systems on their PC. A field dominated by VMWare(r) and Microsoft's Virtual PC(r).

"I have a lot of respect for the market leaders. But we have a value proposition which allows us to compete. Part of our strategy is to go into areas not well served by other products," according to Bob St.John, Director of Business Development for SSI. "For example, some Citrix(r) users have tested the product and found it to be surprisingly responsive in that environment."
